Thought for the day
I have no time to write a proper blog post, but here’s my (not very profound) thought/ confession for the day:
I think Ed Miliband is quite sexy.
I don’t really know about his politics, so he could be a complete twat … but he’s not a Tory, which can only be a good thing.
Apparently he was beaten by his brother in the Sky News Top Trumps, which rates politicians on various attributes including looks and charisma … (I read it in a magazine this weekend) … but I disagree. I think he’s much better looking than David … although I do wonder how interesting it would be to hang out with an economist …
Hmmm ….
Here the man himself:

And here’s his brother:

No contest.
Right. Better stop procrastinating/ daydreaming and continue writing these damn SLT reports …

What’s the point rating politicians on their look and charisma? They play a role in a film done for the commun people, they are role model for Mister Jo who will never know them in reality, they are only an image nowadays and an image is always sexy, they are surrounded by spin doctors so if they are funny and witty it’s not their speech, their words.
In their real life perhaps they are boring.
And they like power. A man attracted by power is not sexy.
Look in France a lot of people love Lady Diana. Why? Because she gave a good glamour image of herself in good pictures everywhere in the magazines. Was she witty? Was she funny? Did she do anything to improve our daily life? Did she do anything to make a difference?
A lot of actors, a lot of celebrities are sexy, but don’t daydream it’s not for us, in the reality there are a lot of people very interesting, very sexy and we don’t notive them, we don’t pay attention to pretty things in reality because our attention is captivated by (false and fiddled) images on TV!
Dear SG, look around you and you’ll find a lot of genuine sexy people everywhere!

The same in French.

Oh come on - that photo of his brother is so unfair - he’s pulling some kind of weird face! At least Ed is smiling and properly posed!
But, yeah, I see what you mean…I spose…

Fair point, Soph. I’ve found a better, non-gurning photo of DM. Still like Ed better, though.

I am so confused with British political parties. . . are the Torys the conservative ones? (If so, yeah, not being overly conservative is a good thing, we won’t even start criticizing the conservative govt here in the US).
As for judging looks and charisma in politics, the results can vary widely depending on what happenes when said person is in office. For example: John F. Kennedy won a lot of popular vote on being young and dashing, ans was a very influential president in his truncated term. But on the Bad end, our current idiot chief “W” won looking more dashing than a slightly robotic Al Gore, and nothing good came of that. . .
