Just a quickie …

I’m not sure if this will work … I’m writing this using my mobile phone on the way to Stansted Airport.  I’m off to Ireland for a few days with my sister and nephew - hooray!
I still have no internet access at home (bloody TalkTalk) so feel very much out of the blogging loop.  I [...]

Running

I signed up to do a 5 km run with one of my oldest and bestest friends about three months ago.  Plenty of time to get fit, I thought.  No need to start training straightaway.  Ha!
The days went by.  Days turned in weeks and weeks turned into months.  Now the run is only 7 days away … [...]

More on my blogging addiction …

That is of course an exageration.  I’m not really addicted, honest.  I could stop anytime.
Yeah right.  That’s why I’m in Stratford library now, hastily trying to catch up with the blogs I read regularly and typing out a new post.

Oh là là !

Le Tour de France est venu à Londres aujourd’hui.  Le cyclisme était superbe, il faisait très très beau … et pendant quelques heures, j’avais l’impression d’être en France!

Royal family rant

The Queen’s annual public accounts were published at the end of June.  According to official documents, the royal family cost the British taxpayer £37.3 million last year.  Her flunkies were quick to point out that this equates to “only” 62p per person - a bargain, apparently.
Well, £37.3 million a year is no bargain in my [...]

Girls and boys’ toys

When children come for a speech and language therapy assessment, a good therapist will put out toys for them to play with.  The toys keep the child occupied while the therapist talks to the parent about their concerns.  They also help with the assessment process.  SLTs look at children’s play skills, as difficulties with play often co-occur [...]

Feeling guilty

I am off sick today.
I got up yesterday morning and felt a twinge in my back.  It got worse and worse throughout the day.  By the evening I was in agony and could hardly walk.  Today, I am having difficulty standing up straight, and can’t arch my back.
So why is it then that I feel so terribly [...]
